What is Debt Negotiation/Debt Settlement?
Debt Negotiation also referred to as Debt Settlement, is a hardship program to resolve unsecured debt by negotiating a lower amount to pay your creditors and settling in full with a zero balance. The process involves setting money aside in a new special purpose account rather than making small monthly payments to your creditors. During this process, your debts go or remain delinquent while making a monthly payment into an FDIC-insured Special Purpose Account. Enrolled debt is negotiated and settled one at a time using money that accrues in the special purpose account until all debts are settled with a zero balance remaining. In some cases, the monthly amount that you pay into your Specialist Purpose Account could be less than half compared to making high-interest credit card monthly payments, and the time frame to resolve the debt is estimated based on what you can afford. Most programs are structured with an estimated length between 24 and 48 months, although some clients have been able to resolve their debt in as little as six months. Programs may be estimated to be approximately 72 months in some extreme hardship cases. Programs can be longer or shorter than estimated, depending on the results of negotiations. After 48 months from the first delinquency, debts in Texas become time-barred. This means creditors and debt collectors cannot use the legal system to collect the debt. Some clients choose not to settle debts that reach time-barred status.
What is Credit Counseling?
Credit Counseling is a hardship program designed to reduce your credit card interest rates, often to around 6 to 10 percent without a new loan. Depending on your current interest rates, the program is likely to lower the monthly cost of your debt and provide you with one convenient monthly payment. These programs will also accelerate your ability to pay off your debt. Most Credit Counseling programs are structured to last about five years. Credit Counseling will not negotiate down your balances, only your interest rates.

San Antonio, TX 78216
Debt Redemption is not a lender but offers an affiliate platform to receive loan offers from multiple lenders. Clients who are able to remain with the program and resolve all their debts generally experience an approximate 45% reduction of their enrolled balance before our performance fee of 15%, a $9.95 monthly bank fee, and any optional third-party fees. Individual results may vary based on the ability to save sufficient funds, the ability to complete the program, and the creditors enrolled. Statements made are examples of past performance and are not intended to be a guarantee that your debt balances will be lowered by a specific amount or percentage or that you will be debt-free within a specific time period. Settlement fees are not charged until a debt is reduced and payment has been made to a creditor. The use of debt settlement services will likely adversely affect your creditworthiness, may result in you being subject to collections or being sued by creditors or collectors, and may increase the outstanding balances of your enrolled accounts due to the accrual of fees and interest. We do not assume consumer debt, make monthly payments to creditors, or provide tax, bankruptcy, accounting, or legal advice. We do not provide credit repair services. For answers to common questions, please visit our FAQs page. Optional separate legal services may be offered by attorneys or legal plan providers and all associated fees are paid directly to the providers. Please contact a tax professional to discuss any possible tax consequences of paying less than the full balance. Programs are only available in Texas.
